Cardano Chang Hard Fork Activates On-Chain Governance for 4 Million ADA Holders

The Cardano network has successfully implemented the Chang hard fork, introducing a comprehensive on-chain governance system that gives every ADA holder a direct vote in protocol decisions. The upgrade represents the culmination of years of research and development into decentralized governance.

Under the new system, ADA holders can delegate voting power to representatives, submit governance actions, and vote directly on protocol parameter changes, treasury withdrawals, and constitutional amendments. The first governance action, a proposal to increase the network’s block size, passed with 78% approval.

Charles Hoskinson, founder of Input Output Global, called the upgrade “the most significant milestone in Cardano’s history.” The ADA token responded positively, gaining 12% in the 48 hours following the fork activation.
