Abstract geometric cover illustration for On-Chain Metrics, Explained

Because public blockchains are transparent, analysts study “on-chain” data — activity recorded directly on the ledger — to gauge network health and behavior. It is a data source traditional markets simply do not have.

Common metrics

Examples include active addresses (how many wallets are transacting), transaction volume, and how much of a coin has not moved in a long time. These can hint at adoption, accumulation, or stress.

Use with care

On-chain data is powerful but easy to misread: a single entity can control many addresses, and correlation is not causation. It is one lens among several, not a crystal ball, and we never present it as a trade signal.
