Keeping individual positions small limits the damage when one goes wrong, which in a volatile market is a matter of when, not if.<\/p>\n<h2>Leverage magnifies everything<\/h2>\n<p>Leverage multiplies both gains and losses, and it introduces liquidation: if the price moves against a leveraged position enough, it can be closed automatically, wiping out the stake.
