It is the building block behind most of decentralized finance, stablecoins, and on-chain applications.<\/p>\n<h2>Code as the intermediary<\/h2>\n<p>Instead of a bank or broker enforcing an agreement, a smart contract holds the funds and enforces the rules itself. If the conditions are met, it executes; if not, it does not.
